Solar estimates for South African homes

Sized by your roof, not by a salesman.

Type your address. In about a minute you’ll see your own roof in the sun, the panels that fit on it and what it costs, before you give anyone your number.

Free. No number needed to see your price. We only keep your address if you ask for a quote.

What the scan reads

  • Every roof face its size, pitch and direction
  • A year of sun hour by hour, including your trees and your neighbour’s double storey
  • Where panels fit around chimneys, skylights and edges
  • Your bill at your supplier’s actual tariff

Before anyone climbs on your roof

Three things you’ll know in a minute.

Most quotes start with a salesman working out what you can afford. Ours starts with your roof.

How the scan works
  1. Your roof, in the sun

We find your house from above and trace a full year of sunshine across every part of the roof, down to about 10 cm. Shaded corners show up dark. The spots that earn their keep glow.

  2. The system it holds, not the biggest one we could sell

Panels go on the sunniest faces first, and we stop when they cover the share of your bill that makes sense. If your roof is the limit, we say so.

  3. A price range, and what you’d save

Installed, including VAT, with your monthly saving at your own supplier’s tariff. You see it before anyone asks for your number.

Why people check now

It’s not load-shedding any more. It’s the bill.

Electricity went up again this year, and it goes up every year. Solar you own locks in part of your power at today’s price. A battery keeps the lights, wifi and gate running when the grid doesn’t.

Increases as reported by eNCA and EnergyBee; your municipality’s may differ.

How we keep it honest

Goedkoop is duurkoop. We agree.

Everybody knows someone whose installer disappeared, or whose system never saved a cent. Here’s how SolarCheck keeps the number honest.

  • The working, shown

Every number comes with the assumption behind it: your tariff, the yearly increase, how much power you use in daylight. Disagree with one and you can see what changes.

  • Sized to your use, not a margin

We size to the share of your bill solar can sensibly cover, and say so when a battery won’t pay for itself.

  • A range that tells the truth

If the roof is hard to read from the air, the range gets wider and we tell you why. We don’t hide doubt inside a single number.

  • One installer, not a bidding war

Ask for a quote and your details go to one installation partner for your area. Never sold, never passed around.

  • The binding number comes after a visit

Your estimate is the starting point. The installer checks the roof and DB board, then gives you a fixed written quote.

  • Ask for the CoC

Every grid-tied install needs a Certificate of Compliance from a registered electrician, and registration with your municipality. Get both in writing.

Pay your way

Cash, finance or a monthly rental. Compare all three.

Cash
Lowest total cost and the fastest payback. You own it from day one.
Home loan or bank finance
Spread it over your bond or a solar loan. Often cheaper than you’d think over the long run.
Monthly rental
Nothing upfront. Higher total cost, and read the buy-out terms carefully before you sign.
